Twenty-Third Psalm
(Spanish)
#1 -- Twenty-Third
Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not
want. He maketh me to lie down in the green
pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a
table before me in the presence of mine
enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil, my cup
runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days
of my life; and I shall dwell in the house
of the Lord forever.

Footprints
One night a man
had a dream. He dreamed he was walking
along the beach
with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes
from his life. For
each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints
in the sand; one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last
scene flashed before him, he looked back at the
footprints in the
sand. He noticed that many times along the path
of his life there
was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened
at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really
bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it,
"Lord, you said
that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk
with me all the
way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times
in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand
why when I needed you most you
would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My son, My precious
child, I love you,
and I would never leave you. During your
times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of
footprints, it was
then that I carried you."

#3 – (Ecclesiastes
3:1-8)
There is a season
for everything, a time for every occupation under
heaven,
A time for giving
birth, A time for dying, A time for planting, A
time for uprooting what has been planted. A time for
killing, A time for healing; A time for knocking
down, A time for building. A time for tears, A
time for laughter, A time for mourning, A time for
dancing. A time for throwing stones away, A time for
gathering them up; A time for embracing, A time to
refrain from embracing. A time for searching, A time
for losing; A time for keeping, A time for throwing
away. A time for tearing, A time for sewing; A
time for keeping silent, A time for speaking, A time
for loving, A time for hating; A time for war, A
time for peace.

3:1-8

#4 –(John
14:1-3)
Let not
your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also
in me. In my father's house are many rooms; if it
were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare
a place for you? And when I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come again and I will take you
to myself, that where I am you may be
also.
John.14:1-3

Lord, my soul to keep, If I should die before I
wake, I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to
take."

#7 –
Afterglow
I’d like the
memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave
an afterglow of smiles when day is done.
I’d like to leave
an echo… Whispering softly down the
ways of happy
times and laughing times and bright and
sunny days. I’d like the tears
of those who grieve to
dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave behind
when day is
done.

#8 – I’m
Free
Don’t grieve for
me, for now I’m free;
I’m following the
path God laid for me.
I took His hand
when I heard Him call;
I turned my back
and left it all.
I could not stay
another day,
to laugh, to love,
to work or play.
Tasks left undone
must stay that way;
I found that place
at the close of day.
If my parting has
left a void,
then fill it with
remembered joy.
A friendship
shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these
things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened
with times of sorrow;
I wish you the
sunshine of tomorrow,
My life’s been
full, I savored much;
good friends, good
times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time
seemed all too brief,
don’t lengthen it
now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart
and share with me,
God wanted me now,
He set me free.

#9 – I’m Not
Here
Do not stand at my grave and weep for I am
not there.
I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that
blow.
I am the diamonds glint and snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gently autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
in circle flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at
night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not
die.

#10 – To Those I Love and Those who Love
Me
When I am gone,
release me. Let me go,
I have so any
things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie
yourself to me with tears,
be happy that we
had so many years.
I gave you my
love, you can only guess
how much you gave
me in happiness.
I thank you for
the love you each have shown,
but now its time I
traveled on alone.
So grieve a while
for me if you must,
then let
your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a
while that we must part,
so bless the
memories within your heart.
I won’t be far
away, for life goes on,
so if you need me,
call, and I will come.
Though you can’t
see or touch me,
I’ll be near, and
if you listen with your heart,
you’ll hear all of
my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you
must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you
with a smile and say,
“Welcome
Home.”

#11 – When I Must Leave
You
When I must leave
you for a little while Please do not grieve and shed
wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the
years But start out bravely with a gallant
smile; And for my sake and in my name
live on and do all
things the same,
Feed not your
loneliness on empty days, But fill each waking hour in
useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and in
cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you
near; And never, never be afraid to die, For I am
waiting for you in the sky!

#12 – Safely
Home
I am home in heaven, dear
ones. Oh, so happy and so bright! There is a perfect
joy and beauty In the everlasting light. All the
pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing
passed; I am now at peace forever. Safely home in
heaven at last. There is work still waiting for
you, So you must not idly stand, Do it now, while
life remaineth-- You shall rest in God's own
land. When that work is all completed, He will
gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that
meeting Oh, the joy to see you
come!

#13 – When I'm
Gone
When I come
to the end of my journey and I travel my
last
weary mile,
just forget if you can, that I ever
frowned
and
remember only the smile. Forget unkind words
I
have
spoken; remember I've had loads of fun. Forget that
I've
stumbled and blundered and sometimes fell by the
way.
Remember I
have fought some hard battles and won, ere
the close
of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not
have you sad for a day; but in summer just
gather some
flowers and remember the place where I lay,
and come in
the shade of evening when the sun paints the
sky in the
west. Stand for a few moments beside me and
remember
only my best.

#14 – The Lord’s
Prayer
Our Father, who
art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come, thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And
forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who
trespass against us. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for
thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

#15 –
Taps
Day is done, gone
the sun, from the hills, from the sky. All is well,
safely rest, safely rest, all is well. Fading light
dims the sight, and a star gems the sky. Gleaming
bright from afar, drawing nigh, falls the night. Dear
one, rest!

#16 – A Firefighter’s
Prayer
When I am called
to duty, God, whenever flames may rage; give me
strength to save some life, whatever be its
age. Help me embrace a little child before it is too
late; or save an older person from the horror of
that fate. I want to fill my calling and to give the
best in me; to guard my every neighbor and protect
his property. And if, according to my fate, I am to
lose my life; please bless with your protecting
hand my children and my
wife.

#17 – A Policeman’s
Prayer
Lord, I ask for
courage: courage to face and conquer my own fears;
courage to take me where others will not go. I ask
for strength: strength of body to protect others;
strength of spirit to lead others. I ask for
dedication: dedication to my job to do it
well; dedication to my community to keep it
safe. Give me, Lord, concern: concern for all those
who entrust me; and compassion for those who need
me; and please, Lord, through it all be at my
side.

#18 – Prayer of St. Francis of
Assissi
Lord, make me an
instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred, let me
sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there
is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where
there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness,
joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to
console; To be understood as to understand; to be
loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we
receive; It is in pardoning that we are
pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to
eternal life.

#19 – O My Father (with Angel
Moroni)
O my Father, thou
that dwellest in the high and glorious place, When
shall I regain thy presence, and again behold thy
face? In thy holy habitation, did my spirit once
reside? In my first primeval childhood, was I
nurtured near thy side?
For a wise and
glorious purpose thou hast placed me here on
earth, And withheld the recollection of my former
friends and birth, Yet oft-times a secret something
whispered, "you're a stranger here," And I felt I
had wandered from a more exalted
sphere.
I had learned to
call thee Father, through thy Spirit from on
high; But until the key of knowledge was restored, I
knew not why. In the heavens are parents single? No;
the thought makes reason stare! Truth is reason, truth
eternal tell me I've a mother
there
When I leave this
frail existence, when I lay thy mortal by, Father,
Mother, may I meet you in your royal courts on
high? Then, at length, when I've completed all you
sent me forth to do, With your mutual
approbation let me come and dwell with
you.

#22 – Twenty-Third Psalm
(Spanish)
El Señor is mi
pastor; nada me falta en verdes pastos él me hace
reposar y adonde brota agua fresca me
conduce. Fortalece mi alma, por el camino del bueno me
dirige por amor de su nombre. Aunque pase por
quebradas muy oscuras no tengo ningun mal, porque tu
estás conmigo, tu bastón y tu vara me protegen. Me
sirves a la mesa frente a mis adversarios, con aceites
tu perfumas mi cabeza y rellenas mi copa. Me
acompana tu bondad y tu favor mientras dura mi vida, mi
mansión sera la casa del Señor por largo, largo
tiempo.
